Maximum consumer complaints from Delhi

New Delhi, Jun 19 (KNN)  Delhi consumers are most aware in the country as again for the second straight month they filed the maximum number of complaints in the country against service providers and manufacturers of goods.

Other states that followed Delhi are Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Haryana, Rajasthan, Bihar and Gujarat.

The National Consumer Helpline (NCH) received 12,704 calls during May, 2013.  In addition to these telephonic calls, 2135 complaints were also received through online complaint system on NCH website.

While consumers in Delhi filed 2873 complaints, those in Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra lodged 2232 and 1437 complaints respectively.  As for consumers in Haryana and Rajasthan, they filed 951 and 835 complaints respectively.

The Product sector recorded maximum complaints at 21.06 per cent.  It was followed by telecom, e-commerce, weights and measures, NBFC, public distribution system, banking, and education.

In April, the national consumer helpline (NCH) received overall 12,590 calls with consumers in Delhi registering the maximum number of complaints.

The helpline provides telephonic counselling for consumer related problems and also provides information, advice and guidance related to consumer issues. (KNN)
