MEIS benefit not applicable on export of Tamarind Kernel Powder, says DGFT

New Delhi, Apr 19 (KNN) The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) today clarified that the Merchandise Exports from India Scheme (MEIS) benefit is not applicable on Kernel Powder.

In a notification, DGFT said, “It has been brought to the notice of this Directorate that some exporters are classifying the item “Tamarind Kernel Powder” under ITC(HS) Code 11063010 and claiming MEIS benefit. It is clarified that the correct ITC (HS) Code of “Tamarind Kernel Powder” is 13023290 on which MEIS benefit is not available.”

DGFT thus advised the RAs not to grant MEIS benefit on Tamarind Kernel Powder and in case any benefit has been granted, such cases would be reviewed and recoveries would be made. (KNN Bureau)
