MeitY to review and make changes in DLI scheme based on industry feedback

New Delhi, May 2 (KNN) As per feedback and suggestions received from the industry, the Ministry of State for Electronics and IT (MeitY) has decided to review the Design Linked Incentive (DLI) scheme and make necessary changes. 

Addressing the media at the Semicon India 2022 conference, the IT Minister for state Rajeev Chandrasekhar said that based on the feedback received through this conference it has brought to our attention that the DLI scheme has been designed to be very narrow.

“We will examine of all that and make all the necessary modification,” he added.

He also stated that the programme will continue to support all product design projects and start-ups, among other things.

The chief objective of the Rs 76,000 crore scheme is to assist 100 companies involved in product design in the semiconductor space and develop the domestic semiconductor ecosystem.

Reflecting on the importance of talent, he said that there is a need to redesign some of those pieces.

The Ministry also announced the appointment of Prof Rao Tummala of Georgia Tech University in the United States to the India Semiconductor Mission’s Advisory Committee.  (KNN Bureau)
