Microsoft to focus on growth of SMEs in India, says it’s Chairman

New Delhi, Sep 1 (KNN) The Microsoft India has set its vision to focus on the development of Small and Medium Sector of the country, the company head has said. 

In an interview to the daily newspaper Mint, Bhaskar Pramanik, Chairman, Microsoft Corp. (India) Pvt. Ltd. has said, “Our focus area for growth is the small and medium sector.” He was replying to a question on where he would like to see Microsoft India five years down the line.

He also said “Our services business is in the mid-30s and we want to see it continue to grow.”

Bhaskar Pramanik is the Chairman of Microsoft India. He looks after the company's overall sales, marketing and all other transactions across India.

Pramanik has resigned from Oracle India to join Microsoft India. Before Oracle, he was the Corporate Vice President and President, India GEM of Sun Microsystems India. He was responsible for the overall operations of the subsidiary in India.

Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) have been the backbone of the Indian economy. Employing close to 40% of India's workforce and contributing 45% to India's manufacturing output, SMEs play a critical role in generating millions of jobs, especially at the low-skill level. The country's 1.3 million SMEs account for 40% of India's total exports. (With Inputs from media report)
