Middle East accounts for Rs 2485.74 cr Indian handicraft exports: EPCH DG

New Delhi, May 27 (KNN) The Middle East including UAE are significant markets for Indian handicrafts as their exports from India is more than Rs 2485.74 crore, said Dr. Rakesh Kumar, Director General, Export Promotion Council for Handicrafts (EPCH).

Speaking at the recently held INDEX Fair in Dubai, he said that the India-UAE FTA will pave way for enhanced exports growth to the WANA region which comprises of countries from Middle East and North Africa.

An exclusive Handicrafts of India pavilion was set up at the fair which was inaugurated by Dr. Aman Puri Consul General, Consulate General of India at Dubai in the presence of Rajesh Kumar Jain - Member COA EPCH, Abhishek Jindal - Member, Central Regional Committee EPCH and participating exporters.

Kumar informed that this year, 29 out of 50 Indian companies participated in INDEX Fair. The member got positive response from the buyers on their exclusive products range of candles, wooden handicrafts items, textiles furnishing, leather products, lamps and lighting, ceramics, and rugs and carpets, he added.

More than 500 companies participated and over 20,000 trade visitors attended this edition of Index 2022 after a gap of two years.  (KNN Bureau)
