A recent release by Ministry of HRD stated its plan to undertake the formation of large number of start-up parks and research parks.
As per the release by the ministry , 37 new start-up parks and research parks would be set up this year with the coordination of Department of Science and Technology (fund sharing on 50:50 basis) covering all the IITs, NITs and some IIITs and other Central Universities. These would incubate the start-ups and hand-hold them till they reach the stage of commercialization, normally for a period of five years. IIT Madras Research Park has already become fully functional and is ready for inauguration at the hands of PM.
Meanwhile, as a part of PMKVY , an initiative is being launched to encourage all the 10,000 technical institutions comprising both, the engineering and polytechnic institutions, to provide engineering skills to at least 100 unemployed youth. The idea would be executed through part-time courses of 6 to 8 months duration using the infrastructure of the institutions after college-hours. The training costs would be met by the central government. The placement of the trained youth remains the responsibility of the institution.
The programme is expected to provide high quality skilled persons required for the Make in India campaign. (KNN/ J)
