New Delhi, May 28 (KNN)  Minister of State (Independent Charge) Ministry of Textiles, Santosh Gangwar has said that the Ministry would come out with a blue print shortly as the textiles sector has a huge potential of providing large number of jobs to the vulnerable section of the society.

After assuming charge yesterday, he spoke to the press on issues plaguing the sector in UP.  He said that local artisans need a push that will unlock the strengths of the region. “Zari Zardozi, carpet and many other local crafts have huge export potential and if proper attention is paid this can be a strong source of improvement of economy and employment.”

Commenting on the Manjha industry of Bareilly, Gangwar said, “due to wrong policies, the Manjha industry has suffered and China has benefitted from the situation. Ten thousand people were rendered jobless.”

“We will not take long in coming out with blueprint for the textiles industry,” Gangwar said.  (KNN/ES)
