Ministry of Corporate Affairs designate 8 special courts to hear serious corporate cases

New Delhi, May 23 (KNN) The Ministry of Corporate Affairs has designated eight courts in different states and union territories as Special Courts for the purposes of trial of offences punishable under Companies Act, 2013 with imprisonment of two years or more in terms of Section 435 of the Act.

The courts have been designated at J&K, Maharashtra, Goa, Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal. Amongst the Union Territories, the courts have been designated at Dadar and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu and Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

Section 435 of the Companies Act, 2013 provides for speedy trial of offences by empowering the central government to establish as many special courts as may be necessary. (KNN Bureau)
