Monsoon Mayhem: Rain pain for MSMEs in Delhi NCR

New Delhi, Sep 1 (KNN) Traffic problems in Delhi NCR has become a nightmare for commuters these days as they move at a snail slow speed due to water logging and heavy congestion on roads. KNN India spoke to industry associations across Delhi-NCR to find the losses incurred by the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).

Vipin Malhan, President of Noida Entrepreneurs Association (NEA) said the MSMEs had to suffer the production loss of around 30 to 40 per cent due to heavy rains causing poor attendance in the factories.

He alleged that the officials are not ready to do any work. They don’t take precautionary measures to tackle heavy rains and the entire industrial area was submerged in water.

“Water had entered in the factories because the road level is increasing and factories level decreasing from the road,” Malhan added.

Sanjay Gaur President, Patparganj FIE (Functional Industrial Estate) Entrepreneurs Association said that drains are clear this time in the industrial area and on behalf of association, “We had already taken the precautionary measures.”

He however said that the staff suffered due to the heavy rains as they reached home late. Inter-state materials are getting delayed due to rains.

Pramil Jindal- Vice President, Gurgaon Industries Association (GIA) said that the situation was not that bad there because the authorities have worked on sewage lines after the Mega Jam in Gurugram which is often called Gurujam.

However, he complained that the roads get damaged every year. But the civic authorities have made few roads from concrete which are not getting damaged.

Jindal said “The water logging problem is not much in the industrial areas of Gurugram because the government is working for improvement. There are few points in the city which create halt. There is a need of long term solution.”

Bumper traffic was witnessed on arterial roads in several parts of the city including Dhaula Kuan, ITO, South Extension, Badarpur-Mehrauli Road, Laxmi Nagar and Janakpuri on Tuesday following heavy rains. (KNN Bureau)
