New Delhi, Nov 6 (KNN)  The government today invited proposals from industry associations and group of entrepreneurs for setting up Integrated Textile Parks (ITPs) under the Scheme for Integrated Textiles Park (SITP) during the remaining part of the 12th Five Year Plan.

As a part of its development process to provide the textile industry with world-class infrastructure, the Ministry of Textiles plans to open more Integrated Textile Parks (ITPs) in different parts of the country.

This scheme is being implemented through Special Purpose Vehicles (SPVs) which should have operational autonomy so that they do not become alternate public enterprises.

For this purpose, it has also enlisted consultants for evaluation of project, preparation of detail project report and project implementation.

SITP is a scheme of the Ministry of Textiles with government funding limited to Rs 40 crore. It innovates in allocating the roles for park implementation to solve coordination issues.

The country’s first integrated textile park was inaugurated at the Trident Group complex in Punjab’s Barnala district in February 2013. (KNN/ST)
