MoS MSME awards tribal women entrepreneurs of Chhattisgarh for their achievements in food processing sector

New Delhi, Mar 22 (KNN) Bhanu Pratap Singh Verma, Minister of State for MSME presented awards to tribal women entrepreneurs of Kondagaon district in Chhattisgarh for their progress and accomplishment in the food processing sector.

The award signifies the recognition of manufacture of agricultural food products and promotion of women entrepreneurship.

It was presented at the USD 5 Trillion Economy – Investment and Business Summit-cum-Awards programme which was organized by the Ministry of MSME in the national capital.

On behalf of the women group, Siddharth Pandey, who is the consultant for the women Self Help Group (SHG) received the award.

Bhupesh Baghel, Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh expressing his thoughts on the award said, the hard work and dedication of tribal women has created a new identity to the home-grown taste as they set an example by becoming entrepreneurs.

The women of tribal-dominated Kondagaon district have formed Udaan Mahila Kisan Producer Company, which manufactures and sells agricultural food products under the brand name ‘Kondanar’.

There are 10 Board of Directors in the company and more than 30 women self-help groups are involved. These groups manufacture over 30 food items including pickles, chutneys, milkshakes, cookies and coconut oil.

Through this company minimum salary of Rs 7,500 per month is drawn by more than 200 tribal women who have got regular employment, said Kondagaon Collector Pushpendra Meena.

The virtual platform of Dubai Expo showcased the products of Kondagaon's Udan which was received global interest, stated Meena. (KNN Bureau)
