MPEDA to Hold National Seafood Skill Olympiad During Seafood Expo Bharat 2026

New Delhi, Jun 30 (KNN) The Marine Products Export Development Authority (MPEDA) will organise the second edition of the National Seafood Skill Olympiad from July 1-3 as part of Seafood Expo Bharat 2026.

The event would bring together seafood processing professionals from across the country to compete in the preparation of value-added seafood products.

Ahead of the national competition, MPEDA conducted 50 seafood value addition training programmes across the country, training more than 2,500 seafood processing workers and professionals.

The Skill Olympiad will be held alongside Seafood Expo Bharat 2026, which is expected to attract around 5,000 domestic and international participants.

The expo will feature more than 325 exhibitors representing seafood processing, aquaculture, packaging, logistics and related sectors, along with business meetings and technical sessions.

According to MPEDA, India's seafood exports reached a record USD 8.45 billion in FY 2025-26. The country currently has 670 approved seafood processing units, including 127 units producing value-added seafood products, which account for nearly 10 per cent of total seafood exports.

MPEDA aims to increase the share of value-added seafood products to 25 per cent of total seafood exports by 2030 through training, infrastructure development and product innovation.
