New Delhi, May 10 (KNN) Union Minister for Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Narayan Rane will inaugurate the Centre of Excellence for Khadi (CoEK) on May 11 in New Delhi.

The objective of the centre is to design apparel, home furnishing and accessories for people of all generation and creat benchmarked design processes of global standards of quality, design, and merchandising.

In an endeavour to reach out to all the Khadi Institutions a Knowledge Portal to disseminate design directions is under process. 

The portal would entail design directions on—colour, silhouettes, weave, surface, textures, prints, closures, size chart and trims and finishes.

The CoEK is setup at National Institute of Fashion Technology as a hub in Delhi and spokes in Bangalore, Gandhinagar, Kolkata, and Shillong.

It has been conceived by the Ministry of MSME for Khadi Village and Industries Commission to empower Khadi Institutions.

Minister of State MSME Bhanu Pratap Singh Verma, Minister of State for Textiles Darshana Vikram Jardosh, Secretary, Ministry of Textiles U P Singh and Secretary, Ministry of MSME B.B Swain will be present at the occasion.  (KNN Bureau)
