MSME Ministry-AIFPA organises vendor development programme to increase procurement
New Delhi, July 21 (KNN) Workings towards increasing the purchase by PSUs from the MSME suppliers in food sector, the Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSME) today organized a National Level Vendor Development Programme cum industrial exhibition.
It is a two-day programme to be held in the national capital on July 21-22, 2016.
The programme has been organized in association with the All India Food Processors Association (AIFPA) in order to provide marketing opportunity to MSEs engaged in agro and food products procured by PSUs.
J.P. Meena, Additional Secretary in Food Processing Ministry, who was the chief guest of the event, said that food processing is an isolated sector but the growth of this sector is good.
“We cannot ignore the fact that the demand of the food processing industry is huge,” he said.
“We have to do innovation in this sector to bring new products in the market as per the needs of the consumers,” he added.
According to the Public Procurement Policy, minimum of 20% of the total annual procurement has to be made from MSEs by the Central Government/ Ministries/Departments/Public Sector Undertakings. This policy has become mandatory with effect from April 1, 2015.
The Food Expo aimed to provide an opportunity to MSEs in Food & allied sectors to explore new marketing avenues in CPSUs, Government Departments and Large Scale Units.
The exhibition facilitated the procuring departments in identifying and selecting the vendors to meet out their requirements in the field of Food & allied sectors.
The Expo included exhibitors like manufacturers and suppliers of raw materials, semi-finished & finished products, packaging materials, machinery & equipment suppliers related to food & allied sectors.
Ministry of Food Processing Industries, CSD, IRCTC, Central Police Canteen, Kendriya Bhandar, state trading corporation, FSSAI, BIS, Agmark, Financial Institution, Banks & other relevant Central/State Government Departments are participating in the expo. (KNN Bureau)
