MSME ministry earmarks Rs 102 crore for training of entrepreneurs

New Delhi, Apr 22 (KNN)  Ministry of micro, small and medium enterprises has earmarked Rs 102 crore for the training of first generation entrepreneurs for the year 2013-14 through various training institutions.

Through such schemes, the government sees a major chance to create self- employment in rural and urban areas.

“The main objectives of the scheme are development of indigenous entrepreneurship from all walks of life for developing new micro and small enterprises, enlarging the entrepreneurial base and encouraging self-employment in rural as well as urban areas, by providing training to first generation entrepreneurs and assisting them in setting up of enterprises,” said Minister of MSMEs, KH Muniyappa in Rajya Sabha today.
Apart from this the Ministry has sent a proposal to the Ministry of Finance to continue the training scheme in the 12th plan.

Under the scheme, assistance is provided to three national level Entrepreneurship Development Institutes (EDIs) -National Institute for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (Ni-MSME), Hyderabad, National Institute for Entrepreneurship and Small Business Development (NIESBUD), Noida, Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship (IIE), Guwahati, National
Small Industries Corporation (NSIC) and Tool Rooms for conducting entrepreneurship and skill development programmes.

On an average 26 per cent to 55 per cent of all trainees, after receiving the training, were either successful in setting up their enterprises or were able to obtain wage employment. (KNN)
