MSMEs have major share in industrial clusters

New Delhi, Apr 29 (KNN) The micro, small and medium enterprises have a major share in the nine industrial clusters that have come up in the last three years, the parliament was informed today.

Maharashtra got two industrial clusters followed by Odisha, Tamil Nadu, Assam, Punjab, Bihar, Himachal Pradesh and Gujarat, with one each.

All the nine industrial clusters have more than 80 per cent presence of MSMEs while in Punjab, Assam and Bihar it is 100 per cent.

The Narol Textiles Infrastructure and Environment Management in Gujarat is the most expensive project of the government which cost Rs 145.30 crore. Following the industrial cluster in Gujarat in  terms of investment are Tiruchirapalli Engineering and Technology Cluster and Plastic, Polymer and Allied Cluster, Balasore in Odisha which came up with investment of Rs 102.81 crore and 81.90 crore respectively.

These industrial clusters have also been provided access to modern technology through provision of need based common infrastructure like R and D labs, Skill Upgradation Centres, Modern Test Centres, Prototype Centres, to accelerate their development. 

The MSME sector contributes around 9 per cent of GDP and accounts for around 45 per cent of the manufacturing output and around 36 per cent of total value of exports. (KNN)
