Multiple labour laws to be streamlined into four basic labour codes: Sitharaman

New Delhi, July 5 (KNN) Taking steps towards labour reforms in the country, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman called for streamlining of multiple labour laws  into a set of four Labour Codes in her Budget Speech in the Parliament.

This, she said, would help standardize registration and filing of returns and reduce disputes.

Sitharaman said that the government is planning to streamline multiple labour laws into a set of four labour codes.

The minister stated that this will ensure that the process of registration and filing of returns will get standardised and streamlined.

“With various labour related definitions, getting standardised and lesser disputes are expected,” she said.

The Economic Survey of 2019 revealed that a plethora of labour rules have pushed SMEs in the country to remain small. (KNN Bureau)

Redifining labour laws is not the solution of the problem.Indfian employers do not not want to pay even the basic minimum wages. Most of the industrialists are from Gujarat having very poor labour laws compliance. India has got the cheapest labour in the world but Govt. is thinking of giving the bed of roses to employers but carry on who cares?
