New Delhi, Nov 13 (KNN) A Twitter handle affiliated RSS Swayamsevaks attacked online fashion retailer Myntra for selling cow leather shoes. It demanded that the government should act against the retailer as it sold shoes made from cow leather.

"Govt should take action against @myntra for selling cow leather shoe and hurting religious sentiments of Hindus," tweeted @RSS_Org.

Responding to the statements, Myntra tweeted from its official handle, "We appreciate your sentiments. We feel sorry if the sale of any particular item does not meet your approval.

However, the product in question is an imported product and/or made from imported leather. The sale of leather products is not illegal in India. Please be assured that we function within legally permissible norms.”

Meanwhile, after the outrage on social media, RSS Akhil Bharatiya Prachar Pramukh Manmohan Vaidya clarified that the views expressed by the fan page are not of them.

We do not subscribe to the views expressed on @rss_org as it is not the official twitter handle of RSS, said Vaidya. (KNN Bureau)
