National Food Processing Council re-constituted; policy, review main roles

New Delhi, Jul 17 (KNN) Ministry of Food Processing Industries has re-constituted the National Food Processing Development Council (NFPDC), which will be the policy making body giving overall direction and guidance for development of Food Processing Industries Sector as a whole in the country and reviewing their progress.

“Ministry of Food Processing Industries has re-constituted the National Food Processing Development Council (NFPDC) with Minister of Food Processing Industries as its Chairman and Minister of State for Agriculture and Food Processing Industries as Vice-Chairman,” Ministry of Food Processing Industries said in a release.

NFPDC will be in operation for a period of two years. It will meet at least twice a year on half-yearly basis.

“The NFPDC will be the policy making body giving overall direction and guidance for development of Food Processing Industries Sector as a whole in the country.

“NFPDC will also monitor and review its progress and performance to the National Mission on Food Processing (NMFP), and other central sector schemes of the Ministry,” the release said.

Apart from the chairman, vice-chairman and convenor, there are 18 other members in the council including Ministers, Secretaries and representatives from industry bodies. (KNN/SD)
