NIT Jamshedpur gets World Bank loan to improve technical education

Jamshedpur, Apr 14 (KNN) The of National Institute of Technology (NIT), Jamshedpur will be the beneficiary of credit that the Indian Government has received from the International Development Association as well as a loan from the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development, both World Bank members, for quality improvement of technical education.

“The Government of India has received a Credit 4685-IN from the International Development Association and a loan (Loan-IN) from the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development in various currencies towards the cost of Technical Education Quality Improvement Programme –Phase II project,” NIT said.

In this context, NIT Jamshedpur has invited bids for the supply of an atomic absorption spectrometer with hydride generation system and various equipment for physics department labs.

NIT Jamshedpur was upgraded to National Institute of Technology in December 2002 with the status of a deemed university. It is one of the 30 NITs in India, and as such is directly under the control of the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD).

The International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) and International Development Association (IDA) are the international financial institutions which offers loans to middle-income developing countries. Both IBRD and IDA are the members of the Wold Bank Group. (KNN/SD)
