No response from the government so far, workers strike demanding reforms enter day 2: HMS

New Delhi, Nov 10 (KNN) Workers from different sectors including coal, steel, electricity, docks, construction etc. are In the national capital to demanding reforms and space in the changing economic scenario in the country. So far there has been no response from the government, Hind Mazdoor Sabha (HMS) informed.

Talking to KNN, Mohandas, Office Secretary of HMS informed that the problems that are rooted at the workers level from across sectors is not a result of the sudden happenings but has accumulated over the last many years.

He informed that over 10 different central trade unions including INTUC, SEWA, Left-led CITU, AITUC as well as independent federations are on dharna that started on 9th and is expected to go on till 11th of November.

Mohandas said that the workers have never been into consideration by the government and it has come to this that they have to leave their jobs and sit on strike demanding reforms.

Commenting upon the Goods and Services Tax (GST) he said that the new tax regime has done no good to the sector, specifically the unorganized and the Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) that generates a lot of employment.

 If the demands are not taken into consideration, the protests might be raised at national level in order to raise concerns” he added. (KNN/ DA)
