NSDC to rope in partners for skill development

New Delhi, Jun 3 (KNN)  The National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) is seeking partnership with  not-for-profit organisations for skill development courses and modules in a host of areas including infrastructure, textiles, leather goods, food processing, gems and jewellery among others.

In this context, NSDC has invited proposals for large scale and sustainable skill development projects in various sectors.

Skill development can be offered in sectors such as transportation, chemical and pharmaceuticals, sports, furniture and furnishings, cold chain, media and entertainment, manufacturing, electronics, agriculture, real estate, handicrafts, health care, retail, education, in addition to the above.

As far as eligibility and funding guidelines are concerned, any for-profit organisation with a sustainable and viable business model over a 10-year period skilling a minimum of 50,000 people with 70 per cent placement guarantee is entitled to participate in the skill mission, official data said.

Further, NSDC provides loans at concessional rate of interest.  Organisations seeking non-funding support are also encouraged to apply.

In terms of benefits, project partners will have access to industry affiliation; monetary reward; service tax exemption; and innovation and disability focused proposals will be accepted.
 
National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) was formed to achieve the target of skilling / upskilling 150 million people by 2022 by fostering private sector initiatives in the skill development space. To support its various initiatives, NSDC is looking at creating an enabling environment by developing a robust research base for skilling. To that end it conducts studies to understand the geographical and sector wise skill requirements and on various subjects that can influence and enable the skilling environment in India.  (KNN/ES)
