Earlier, the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) department had urged the Union Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MOFPI) to declare four industrial estates as designated food parks.
The proposed food parks are - Khordha food park at Khordha Industrial Complex; Agro Industrial Estate for maize (Nabarangpur); Jagatpur food park at Jagatpur industrial estate in Cuttack; and Mancheswar food park at Mancheswar industrial estate in Bhubaneswar.
The state MSME Secretary Panchanan Dash wrote to MOFPI Secretary Rangalal Jamuda that all four industrial estates have been notified as designated food parks for the purpose of availing credit from NABARD. However, except Khurdha industrial estate, the rest three have not been declared as designated food park to receive the credit support from the bank.
In the budget of 2014-15, a special fund of Rs 2,000 crore has been created in NABARD for providing affordable credit to entrepreneurs for setting up of food processing units in designated food parks.
Loan is extended by NABARD from the fund to various categories of promoters in food processing sector, such as Individual entrepreneurs, state governments, state government agencies, cooperatives, farmers producer organizations (FPOs), corporate and companies. (KNN Bureau)
