ONDC will transform e-commerce involving every seller and service provider, says its MD Thampy Koshy

Mumbai, Sept 8 (KNN) Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) will completely transform e-commerce as we know with every seller and service provider being a part of the digital network, said Thampy Koshy, MD & CEO, ONDC.

They will be discoverable by any digital denizen irrespective of which platform they use to access the net which means a potential buyer population of a billion, he said while addressing the Retail Technology Conclave (ReTechCon).

The two day conclave was organised by the Retailers Association of India (RAI) in Mumbai.

Speaking about the relevance of ReTechCon in the new world, Kumar Rajagopalan, CEO, RAI said “Technology-enabled retailers are able to connect with their customers faster, with more agility and accuracy. The time after the pandemic has created a new set of requirements for customers since they now need items to be delivered to them really fast, as well as with precision”

Customers are available online, offline, over the mobile and through IVRs. Retailers have to learn to adapt to these new functionalities and embrace technologies like AI to be able to serve customers better, he said.  

A distinctive discussion was held on the ‘Future of Digital Commerce in India’ between Thampy Koshy, MD & CEO, ONDC and Anjali Bansal, Founder, Avaana Capital. 

The conclave also hosted the ReTech Startups Awards 2022, which recognised the top retail technology startups with the potential to help retailers transform their businesses. 

The Conclave saw various retailers, their chief technology officers and various technology service providers come together and deliberate on ways to create new retail experiences as well as discuss technology-enabled commerce in the new era.  (KNN Bureau)
