Amazon Partners With Eicher To Launch E-Trucks For E-Commerce Deliveries In India

New Delhi, Aug 12 (KNN) Eicher Trucks and Buses, a business division of VE Commercial Vehicles Limited (VECV) is has entered into a partnership with Amazon to roll out as many as 1,000 electric trucks with zero emissions. 

These vehicles will span different payload categories and will be integrated into Amazon's delivery network through its transport service partners within the next five years.

In an initial move, Amazon is set to gradually introduce 50 Eicher electric trucks in key hubs such as Delhi, Manesar, and Gurugram in the upcoming months. 

Eicher's electric truck models, equipped with advanced digital functionalities, will be developed using the existing electric vehicle platform that the company has successfully employed in bus applications, according to a press statement by the company. 

Vinod Aggarwal, Managing Director and CEO of VECV, stated, "We are pleased to collaborate with Amazon as we begin pilots for Amazon’s e-commerce deliveries in Indore, Delhi, Manesar, and Gurugram. This partnership reflects our commitment to promoting smart sustainable solution and developing a zero-emission transport ecosystem."

Abhinav Singh, VP of Customer Fulfilment, Amazon Transportation Services, Global Specialty Fulfilment, and Supply Chain at Amazon India, said, "We are proud to work with key partners to lead the way in the electrification of a wide range of vehicles within our delivery operations.”

The collaboration between Amazon India and Eicher supports Amazon's commitment to achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2040, the release said   (KNN Bureau)
