Cabinet Approves Rs 7,597 Crore Highway Widening Projects in Telangana
New Delhi, June 3 (KNN) The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) has approved the widening of sections of National Highway-63 and National Highway-563 in Telangana to four lanes at a total cost of Rs 7,597.16 crore.
The approved projects cover a combined length of 190.76 km and include the Armoor–Jagtial and Jagtial–Mancherial stretches of NH-63 under the Hybrid Annuity Model (HAM), and the Jagtial–Karimnagar stretch of NH-563 under the Build-Operate-Transfer (Toll) model.
The highway corridors pass through the districts of Nizamabad, Jagtial, Mancherial and Karimnagar, where traffic congestion has increased due to urban expansion and built-up areas along the existing routes.
According to the government, the projects will include four-lane highways with bypasses around major towns and settlements. The upgraded corridors are designed for speeds of up to 100 km per hour and are expected to improve passenger and freight movement across the region.
The Armoor–Jagtial section will cover 63.6 km with an estimated capital cost of Rs 2,471.76 crore, while the 68.3-km Jagtial–Mancherial section has been approved at a cost of Rs 2,730.72 crore. The 58.87-km Jagtial–Karimnagar stretch will be developed at a cost of Rs 2,394.68 crore.
The government said the projects will improve connectivity to key economic, social and logistics hubs in Telangana and are expected to reduce travel time by about 90 minutes between Armoor and Mancherial and by around 45 minutes between Jagtial and Karimnagar.
The projects are also expected to generate approximately 34.43 lakh direct man-days and 42.7 lakh indirect man-days of employment during construction.
