E-Shram Sees Record Female Registrations, Agriculture Sector Takes the Lead

Dimapur, Jan 8 (KNN) The e-Shram portal, managed by the Ministry of Labour and Employment, which serves as a national database for unorganized sector workers and aims to provide them with various social security benefits recorded 22,29,44,437 registrations in India since August 2021, with 29,841 on January 6.

Top states include Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, and Maharashtra. Primary sectors are agriculture, domestic work, construction, apparel, and miscellaneous.

In the 18-40 age group, 59.46 per cent registered, 40-50 years accounted for 23.56 per cent, and above 50 years made up 16.81 per cent. Female registrations surpassed males at 52.98 per cent to 47.02 per cent.

Nagaland saw 2,20,926 registrations, with the top sectors being agriculture, construction, miscellaneous, domestic work, and handicrafts.

In Nagaland's workforce, 58.35 per cent were in the 18-40 age group, 24.58 per cent in 40-50 years, and 17.04 per cent above 50 years. Female registrations led at 58.42 per cent, and male registrations were 41.57 per cent.

Most registrations were through Customer Service Centres, followed by self-registration, while the Umang app usage for registration remained low.
