Finance Minister Allocates Rs 500 Crore for AI in Education in Union Budget 2025-26

New Delhi, Feb 1 (KNN) In a significant push towards integrating artificial intelligence (AI) in education, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, in her Union Budget speech, announced an outlay of Rs 500 crore for the establishment of a Centre of Excellence for AI in Education.

The initiative aims to leverage AI-driven solutions to enhance learning outcomes, improve accessibility, and develop advanced research capabilities in the education sector.

The Centre of Excellence will focus on AI-powered teaching tools, personalised learning models, and skill development programs to prepare students for an AI-driven future.

“This investment underscores the government’s commitment to harnessing AI for the education sector, fostering innovation, and equipping students with future-ready skills,” said Sitharaman.

Experts believe this move will strengthen India's position in AI research and application while bridging the gap in digital education infrastructure.

More details on implementation and collaboration with academic institutions and tech firms are expected in the coming months.
