Finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman urges women to form FPOs to avail credit

Kota, Jan 9 (KNN) Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Sunday handed over 33,000 loan sanction letters to street vendors, small scale entrepreneurs and cattle rearers during a credit outreach programme held in Kota, Rajasthan.

Addressing the occasion, Sitharaman pointed out that prime minister himself has given guarantee for loans under the Pradhan Mantri Svanidhi Yojana, so one does not need to produce any document for guarantee.

She also urged women to form Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs) in their respective areas and avail bank loans to develop storage and processing units in their villages.

The loans worth Rs 1,550 crore were handed over to the beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Svanidhi Yojana, Mudra Yojana and Pashupalak Kisan Credit Card schemes.

Loans of at least Rs 68 crore are going to be distributed among cattle rearers (Pashupalaks), she said, adding that many others are being given credit sanction for various business and agriculture purposes.

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla also handed over the letters to the beneficiaries.

He called upon street vendors, small scale entrepreneurs and cattle rearers to avail the loans under various government schemes to expand their work.  (KNN Bureau)
