IIE to set up entrepreneurship development and incubation centres across North east region

Guwahati, Apr 17 (KNN) The Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship (IIE) has decided to set up entrepreneurship development and incubation centres in higher educational institutions in the northeastern region (NER), reported TOI.

In the first phase, the IIE, with the support of North Eastern Council, will set up 30 entrepreneurship development centres and four incubation centres in the higher educational institutes across the northeast.

The move aims to boost and create an entrepreneurial ecosystem among college students of the region.

IIE director Lalit Sharma said, “The IIE plans to develop an ecosystem of NER through college youths. It shall reach out to college students by building entrepreneurship development centres and incubation centres within the higher educational institutions of NER.”

“The objective of setting up entrepreneurship development centres (EDC) is to boost and promote the culture of entrepreneurship in higher educational institutions. It also aims to build the capacity of institutions to develop student entrepreneurs,” he said.

In a statement, the IIE said it further plans to increase the number of EDC’s as well as incubation centres and would cover colleges in the remotest areas of NER.  (KNN Bureau)
