Indian Railways Sanctions Rs 139 Crore Bridge Project in Indore

New Delhi, Jun 18 (KNN) Indian Railways has approved the reconstruction of Shastriya Bridge in Indore Yard at a cost of Rs 139 crore, aimed at improving urban mobility, easing traffic congestion and strengthening rail-road connectivity in Madhya Pradesh.

The project forms part of Indian Railways' infrastructure modernisation programme focused on enhancing safety and improving transportation networks in urban areas.

The new bridge will be developed as a four-lane Road Over Bridge featuring a 72-metre camel-back superstructure with PSC girders and a full viaduct arrangement. To facilitate local traffic movement, 6-metre-wide service roads will be constructed on both sides beneath the bridge.

In addition to bridge reconstruction, the project includes relocation and upgrading of existing sewer infrastructure through the construction of new sewer lines to ensure uninterrupted drainage services.

The plan also covers shifting and modernisation of electrical infrastructure, including new poles, lighting systems and associated utility equipment.

Once completed, the project is expected to improve road connectivity across Indore, reduce traffic bottlenecks and support the city's growing transportation needs while enhancing integration between railway and urban transport infrastructure.

The approval reflects Indian Railways' continued focus on modern infrastructure development, improved public convenience and safer transportation systems.
