India’s recycling industry to touch Rs 4,000 cr by 2047: MRAI
Kolkata, June 21 (KNN) The Material Recycling Association of India (MRAI) has predicted that the recycling industry in India could be worth Rs 4,000 crore by 2047.
The association is creating awareness campaigns regarding country’s aim to reach sustainable development goals by 2030.
“If an Indian company wants to sell something in Europe, we have to match the carbon intensity requirements which cannot happen without green transition,” said Dhawala Shah, Senior Vice President, MRAI.
He said that without this, Indian companies would be at a disadvantage as we need to buy carbon credits.
“Even though the five-trillion-dollar mark is good, we can grow exponentially via our exports if we transition very fast,” he added.
MRAI has set up a pre-shipment inspection agencies and scanners in ports so that imports remain free of radiation. (KNN Bureau)
