Land Acquisition Delays Stall Development Of Five YEIDA Industrial Parks
New Delhi, Feb 3 (KNN) The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) is yet to acquire over 100 acres of land required for five proposed industrial parks in Yamuna City, including handicrafts, apparel, MSMEs, toys and medical devices, officials said following a recent board meeting.
During the meeting, YEIDA officials presented progress reports on plot allotment, land availability and construction status across the five parks. The review noted that although the parks were launched several years ago, development remains incomplete due to pending land acquisition in multiple locations, reported The Times Of India.
The five parks cover a total area of 1,036 acres and have 1,238 planned plots. Of these, 1,080 plots have been allotted, but lease deeds have been executed for only 683 plots. Building plans have been approved for 144 plots, while construction activity is underway on just 44 plots.
Officials said the Medical Devices Park has been the worst affected by land acquisition delays. Of nearly 100 acres pending, YEIDA has secured about 10 acres and launched a 22-plot scheme in January. The 350-acre park includes 188 acres for industrial plots and nine acres for warehousing. Of 203 planned plots, 101 are allotted, 49 handed over, and construction has begun on 12, with only one unit currently operational.
The 175-acre Apparel Park comprises 173 plots, of which 156 have been allotted. However, 17 plots spanning 33.5 acres are still unavailable due to pending land possession. Lease deeds have been executed for 106 allottees, possession has been handed over for 89 plots, and construction has commenced on 15 plots.
The 123-acre Handicraft Park comprises 202 plots, of which 176 have been allotted. Land for 12 plots has been acquired recently and a scheme has been launched, while acquisition for 14 plots spanning 4.7 acres is still pending. Lease deeds have been executed for 96 plots, possession handed over for 63, and construction has begun on four plots.
The 288-acre MSME Park comprises 506 plots, of which 504 have been allotted. Two plots spanning 2.5 acres remain pending due to land acquisition issues, while 13 plots are tied up in court cases. Lease deeds have been executed for 311 plots, possession has been taken for 203 plots, and construction has begun on nine plots.
The Toy Park, planned across 100 acres with 154 plots, has allotted 143 plots so far. While land for four plots has been acquired, seven plots spanning 6.7 acres are still pending. Possession has been handed over for 76 plots, and construction has started on four plots.
Across the five parks, allotment schemes for about 125 plots are yet to be launched due to land shortages. Officials said that while many allottees are completing approvals, faster land acquisition is key to speeding up development and operations.
