Major Corporations At WEF Viewed India Favourable For Investments: DPIIT

New Delhi, Jan 23 (KNN) The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) Secretary, Rajesh Kumar Singh, revealed that major global corporations displayed a positive view of India for investments at the World Economic Forum (WEF) meeting in Davos, Switzerland.

Singh, who was part of the Indian delegation, also highlighted the favourable view of India's investment landscape among CEOs at Davos.

"During the WEF, there was a distinct uptick in the investment sentiment regarding major corporations, with an observable trend of expansive visions for growth in India," Singh told PTI.

He engaged in discussions with various high-profile executives, including Martin Lundstedt of Volvo, Gernot Doellner of Audi, and Darrell Brown of Ecolab.

DPIIT Secretary mentioned that the feedback from global companies also included discussions on implementing a risk-based regulatory regime surveillance to enhance the operational efficiency of multinational corporations with diverse business operations.

Despite a 24 per cent dip in foreign direct investments into India during April-September 2023, amounting to USD 20.5 billion, Singh highlighted the government's ongoing efforts to attract foreign investments.

Measures such as easing FDI norms in specific sectors, reducing compliance burden, and improving the ease of doing business were mentioned.

Singh pointed out that India's representation at WEF focused on underscoring the country's commitment to fostering a global environment of trust and building confidence in ongoing economic reforms.

Key initiatives like the PM Gati Shakti program and the Unified Logistics Interface Platform were showcased to highlight India's dedication to sustainable development and robust infrastructure growth.

Participating in over four WEF sessions, two panel discussions, and four roundtable meetings, Singh engaged in discussions covering diverse subjects such as infrastructure, renewables, sustainability, AI, and manufacturing.

He concluded that India's impactful presence at WEF 2024 solidifies its commitment to becoming a reliable and influential player on the global stage.
