Sustainability Consciousness Driving Demand For Lab Grown Diamonds In Rs. 6 Tn Wedding Boom

New Delhi, Dec 7 (KNN) The Indian wedding industry is experiencing significant transformations, characterised by increasing budgets, sustainable choices, and innovative technological approaches to matrimonial services, according to the recent WedMeGood annual wedding industry report.

Sustainability is emerging as a key trend, with approximately 50 per cent of wedding planners and couples opting for eco-conscious choices.

This shift is particularly evident in jewelry selections, where 45 per cent of brides are now preferring lab-grown diamonds, especially for engagement rings. Wedding vendors are responding to this trend by offering organically and locally sourced materials.

The upcoming wedding season, spanning October to December, is projected to be economically substantial.

An estimated 4.8 million weddings are expected to generate around Rs 6 trillion in business, positioning India second globally in the wedding market, trailing only the United States.

This underscores the industry's significant economic potential and international prominence.

The data reveals a consistent trend of later marriages, with the average age for both love and arranged marriages stabilising at 28 for the second consecutive year.

The wedding season is anticipated to have substantial economic ripple effects. The Confederation of All India Traders estimates approximately 48 lakh weddings in November and December, a notable increase fr0m 35 lakh weddings last year.

This volume is expected to generate business worth Rs 6 lakh crore, with discretionary product categories like garments, jewelry, electronics, automobiles, and beauty products projected to see a 15-20 per cent sales increase compared to the previous season.

These trends reflect a dynamic and evolving matrimonial landscape in India, characterised by technological innovation, sustainability, and significant economic potential.
