Technology conference for plastic industry to be held in Ahmedabad on July 28

Ahmedabad, July 25 (KNN) The third edition of the technology conference for the growth of plastic industry is all set to take place in Ahmedabad on July 28, 2023.

The primary aim of the conference is to encourage import substitution of plastic goods in India.

It is being organised by the All India Plastic Manufacturers’ Association (AIPMA) – AMTEC and is being supported by Union Ministry of MSME, Department of Chemicals and Petrochemicals, and Department of Commerce.

AIPMA President, Mayur D Shah, said, “India has the potential to become the world's premium plastic supply hub, given its annual manufacturing output of goods worth Rs 3.5 lakh crore. Plastic industry employs at least 50 lakh people through 50,000 processing units, of which 90 per cent are MSMEs.”

"The plastic industry is poised to play a vital role in India's ambition to become a USD 5 trillion economy. We are confident that the upcoming conference in Ahmedabad will serve as a platform for direct dialogue between manufacturers and importers. It will also showcase various technologies and innovations to facilitate import replacement," Shah further said.

As per the AIPMA study, plastic goods worth Rs 37,500 crore were imported, of which 48 per cent came from China.  (KNN Bureau)
