UIDAI Launches Six-Month Free Email Update Facility via Aadhaar App
New Delhi, Jul 3 (KNN) The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has introduced a facility allowing Aadhaar holders to add or update their email ID through the Aadhaar App without visiting an Aadhaar enrolment centre, as part of efforts to improve digital service delivery.
The free service became available on July 1, 2026, and will remain available for six months through the Aadhaar App. The move is intended to make Aadhaar updates more convenient by enabling users to complete the process from their smartphones.
According to UIDAI, more than 2.5 lakh email updates were recorded within the first two days of the service's launch.
Linking an email address with Aadhaar allows users to receive real-time notifications whenever Aadhaar authentication is carried out, helping them monitor the use of their Aadhaar and adding an extra layer of security.
The Aadhaar App also enables residents to update their mobile number and address digitally. UIDAI said more than 40 lakh mobile numbers and around 10 lakh addresses have already been updated through the application.
The authority has encouraged residents to use the Aadhaar App to add or update their email ID and keep their Aadhaar details current. The application is available on both Android and Apple iOS platforms.
