Union Government Aims for 24x7 Electricity Supply by March 2025
New Delhi, Mar 19 (KNN) The Union government is planning to set March 2025 as the deadline to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply across the country, according to sources.
This initiative is part of the government’s long-term goal to strengthen India’s power infrastructure and provide reliable energy access to all citizens.
Over the past decade, the central government has successfully connected all households with electricity through flagship schemes such as Saubhagya and Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojana.
Having achieved universal connectivity, the next step is to ensure round-the-clock power supply, senior officials from the power ministry stated.
“This is the next logical step in the government’s continuous power sector reforms. If the current administration is re-elected, it will make 24x7 electricity supply a priority,” a government source said.
The move aims to address power shortages and improve the reliability of supply, especially in rural and remote areas.
India’s power sector has undergone significant transformation, with a focus on renewable energy, grid stability, and reducing transmission losses.
Experts believe that ensuring uninterrupted electricity will require further investment in power generation, storage solutions, and distribution networks.
With the target set for the end of FY25, the government is expected to roll out new policies and strengthen regulatory mechanisms to support this mission.
Stakeholders in the power sector, including state governments and private entities, are likely to play a crucial role in achieving this ambitious goal.
The initiative aligns with India’s broader vision of becoming an energy-secure nation while promoting economic growth and sustainable development.
