New Delhi, Apr 6 (KNN) The District Industry Centre (DIC) of Nashik provided Enterpreneurs Memorandum part-1 (EM-1) to around 1,064 micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to set up new industrial units, according to a media report quoting a DIC official.

The certificates were given in the last fiscal year 2012-13 and the total investment in these units is expected to be around Rs 325.96 crore. The units are expected to provide employment to 12,563 people.

It is mandatory for the MSMEs to file EM part 1 to District Industries Centre for starting an industrial project.  On completion of the project, the entrepreneur concerned is required to file EM part 2.

The media report quoting DIC official also said that out of the 1,064 SMEs which obtained EM-1 certificates, 785 units were from the manufacturing sector, while the remaining 279 units were from service sectors.

There are two industrial estates of the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) in Nashik with around 3,500 small, medium and large enterprises. Around 90 per cent of those industries are in the micro and small categories. The industries in Nashik are mainly from the auto and engineering sectors. (KNN)
