Over 1,000 women entrepreneurs to attend Kochi summit

Kochi, Nov 17 (KNN) More than 1000 women entrepreneurs from the state will attend the first women entrepreneurship summit to be held in Kochi on November 19.

The state chief minister Oommen Chandy will inaugurate the WE Summit 2015 organised by the Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation (KSIDC).

“Our aim is to give the women who run micro enterprises in the state a chance to interact with global chains which are interested in sourcing their goods from Kerala,” KSIDC managing director M Beena told reporters.

The focus areas of the meet will be food processing and hitech farming, garment and fashion design, retailing opportunities for micro, small and medium enterprises, and souring of funds, she said.

Fostering the growth of entrepreneurship among women and at creating an enabling environment for business ventures will be the highlight this event.

The summit is comprised of several panel for women entrepreneurs to enhance their understanding and practical skills to gain better awareness about collaborating and networking the business ventures, access to markets, networks, financial services, technologies, and training across the state. It will also help to inform innovative strategies to strengthen women entrepreneurs' participation and contributions to the region's economic growth. (KNN Bureau)
