Over 50,000 mt pulse seized so far under de-hoarding operations

The amendment has enabled the states to impose stock limits on all types of stock of pulses. The states were exhorted to intensify action against hoarding, stated by the Consumer Affairs Ministry.
About 7,033 tonnes of lentils were seized from Maharashtra, 5,487.74 tonnes from Karnataka, 2,051 tonnes from Rajasthan and 764.07 tonnes from Haryana.
As a result of action taken by the states there has been a decrease of about Rs 200 per quintal in the mandi rates of pulses in Mumbai and also in future trading of chana, it said.
Decrease in retails prices of pulses has also been seen in Maharashtra, Gujarat, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh, added the ministry. (KNN Bureau)
