New Delhi, Jun 10 (KNN) In a move, which will check underpayment of labourers, the Delhi government has asked the employers of the organised as well as the unorganised sector to pay their employees’ wages through cheque or electronic mode rather than cash payment to keep a record of the payments made.

There have been several complaints earlier regarding underpayment of wages to labourers from employees.

The labour department has also asked the employers including contractors to make an online record about employee details on their website.

According to a Delhi government spokesperson, the employers have been given 90 days’ time for compliance and have been asked to discourage deployment of contract workers on regular, permanent and perennial nature of job.

“In case it’s not possible, workers of contractor should be paid same wages for same and similar work as being paid to regular workers,” the spokesperson added. (KNN/SD)
