Piyush Goyal announces Craft Village in Haridwar to promote tourism & local artisans

New Delhi, May 5 (KNN) Union minister Piyush Goyal said that a craft village, with shops selling local products, will be set up in Haridwar and it will soon emerge as a tourist attraction. Goyal, who is on a two-day visit to the district, said land for the project will be demarcated soon. 

Speaking on the project, the minister said, "To increase tourist footfall in Haridwar, a craft village will be set up here. Indigenous products will be sold in this craft village. This will not only boost tourism in the district but also strengthen local craftsmen financially."

The minister added that Haridwar has been shortlisted as an aspirational district by the government and has “full capacity to become progressive”. 

After a meeting with district officers and local representatives in Haridwar, Piyush Goyal said Haridwar has performed well in the fields of education, agriculture, industrial growth, and the delivery of other basic facilities. (KNN Bureau)
