Piyush Goyal exhorts Startup council to focus on tier-2, 3 cities having limited Venture Capital

New Delhi, May 18 (KNN) Chairing the fourth meeting of National Startup Advisory Council (NSAC), Union Minister Piyush Goyal has asked the council to concentrate on tier 2 and 3 cities where Venture Capital (VC) is limited.

He said that awareness programme about government schemes that promote startups must be conducted in such regions in order to avail venture capital funding.

During the meeting, the council discussed matters concerning the startup ecosystem, including protecting ownership of startups with original promoters, incorporating in India, listing in India and developing innovation hubs.

He also launched NavIC Grand Challenge which aims at promoting adoption of NavIC as a geo-positioning solution.

The meeting was attended by key stakeholders, officials and existing startups and Manoj Kohli, Country Head, Softbank India; Abhiraj Bhal, Co-founder, UrbanCompany; and Kunal Bahl, Co-founder and CEO, Snapdeal.  (KNN Bureau)
