Planning Commission to rope in pvt sector for job-ready tech education for youth

“Construction Industry Development Council (CIDC), the apex organization established by the Planning Commission, Government of India and the construction Industry, invites applications from the eligible Institutions imparting technical education to act as the Partner Institutions of the Council,” CIDC said today in a notification.
The Partner Institutions will expand the HRD initiatives of the Council and prepare the youth to become gainfully employable and ready for Infrastructure Development Industry (IDI), the notification further said.
In this context, CIDC seeks bids from private institutions such as ITIs, Polytechnics, Engineering Institutes and Universities to partner with them.
The Partner Institutions should be eligible to offer short/ medium term training programs and internships to their students, with the active involvement and support of the Council, which has been instrumental in preparing over 417,000 youth to pursue their career with IDI.
CIDC has been set up jointly by the Planning Commission, Government of India and the Indian construction industry. It is an umbrella organization for the construction industry in India and has a national presence with branches across the country.
CIDC undertakes a wide range of activities like - conducting training at various levels, organizing workshops and conferences, publishing journals and newsletters, welfare programmes for construction workers, grading, and placement and so on. (KNN/SD)
