Plastic Park to be developed in Panipat at a cost of Rs 220 crores

Panipat, Aug 1 (KNN) With the view to promote plastic industry in the state, Haryana Government is planning to develop Plastic Park Project at Industrial Estate Panipat.

The park is being set up under the scheme of the Department of Chemicals & Petrochemicals, Ministry of Chemicals & Fertilizers, Government of India.

The work in this regard has started as the Haryana State Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (HSSIDC) has invited bids for selection of Project Consultants for the Plastic Park.

The Corporation has proposed to set-up the Plastic Park at Industrial Estate (IE) – Panipat over an area of about 100 acres with tentative project cost of Rs. 220 crores.

The Scheme Steering Committee (SSC) of the Government of India Ministry in its 9th Meeting held on 18.02.2016 considered the proposals for setting up of 6 new Plastic Parks at various locations in the country and decided to grant ‘in-principle’ approval to the proposals received from the States of – Haryana, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Uttarakhand and West Bengal.

“Enterprises Promotion Policy-2015’ of the State, effective from 15th August, 2015, provides that the Government of India scheme under Ministry of Chemicals & Fertilizers would be suitably leveraged for creation of downstream petro-chemical hub and Plastic Park in vicinity of Indian Oil Corporation Refinery at Panipat,” HSIIDC said in the tender document.
