Plastivision India generates business worth Rs 1500 crore

Mumbai, Dec 23 (KNN) The Ninth Plastivision India 2013, the mega plastics exhibition held here, generated a business of Rs 1500 crore with 50 per cent growth in comparison to the previous editions.
The exhibition held from December 12- 16 witnessed encouraging response from the plastics industry, with more than 110,000 visitors and footfall of 1,00,000 business visitors from 61 countries, said the organisers.
The fair showcased various innovations and technologies from the plastics industry.The show had dedicated pavilions like Indiamold, Plastiworld, Plastics in Agriculture, Automation and Robotics in Plastics Pavilion, Green Pavilion, Solar Energy Pavilion and Plastics in Medical Pavilion. One of the areas where more attention was focused is bio-degradable plastics.
Addressing the five-day international event, Chairman of the Plastivision India 2013, Raju Desai, said “We are optimistic about the growth reaching new heights. The event has successfully generated a business of Rs 1500 crore this time, bringing 50 per cent growth when compared with business of Rs 1,000 crore recorded at the previous Plastivision.
“We are hopeful to receive all the required support from the government that would facilitate the further growth of the plastics industry.”
The government is also encouraging in setting up of Plastics Parks in various states to help the growth of the plastics industry, which is so important for the economy as well as employment generation.
The Ministry has already cleared two plastics parks in the states of - Madhya Pradesh and Orissa for which some funds have already been disbursed. Some more parks are under consideration to facilitate the growth of the plastics industry.
AIPMA President Anand Oza said. "Our aim is to emphasize the needs of the government to promote policy changes, and better development of the industry.”
He pointed out that plastic waste and innovative ways and infrastructure construction, government and industry should work together.
