PM Modi urges newly inducted IAS officers to opt GeM for procurement

New Delhi, Sept 27 (KNN) Batting for adoption of the Government e-Marketplace for procurement in different departments, Prime Minister Narendra urged the newly inducted batch of Indian Administrative Officers (IAS) to go for GeM for procurement in their respective departments.

PM Modi said that procurement from GeM will help eliminate the middlemen and at the same time help in cost cutting for the government.

The Prime Minister further said that for proper functioning of the various departments of the government it is important to work in teams and aim for 100 per cent achievement of targets instead of settling for less.

Referring to the Goods and Services tax introduced in the country, PM Modi asked the administrators to focus on the implementation of the new taxation in the country.

Also there is a need to lay emphasis on digital transactions in order to eliminate the dark areas of the economy, the Prime Minister added.

PM Modi made these remarks during Valedictory Session of Assistant Secretaries, IAS officers of the 2015 in which the officers earlier made presentations before the Prime Minister on different themes including financial inclusion, improving rural incomes, data driven rural prosperity, heritage tourism, railway safety, and central armed police forces.

Key government officials including The Minister of State for Development of North Eastern Region (I/C), Prime Minister’s Office, Personnel, Public Grievances & Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr. Jitendra Singh, the Union Home Secretary, Rajiv Gauba, A/C Secretary, DoPT and the Additional Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister, Dr. P.K.
