Under the scheme, projects are financed by the Central Government with a capital subsidy of 90 per cent for the construction of power sub-stations, 33 and 11 KV HT Lines, Distribution Transformers, LT Lines and free connections to all BPL families in the country.
“The main issues to be discussed pertain to completion of pending projects, difficulties of contract agencies, energisation of villages where work has been already completed among others,” an official statement said.
The meeting to be opened by Union Power Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia will also deliberate on the issues concerning inadequacy of state transmission network.
“With continuous load growth and addition of new generation capacity, it is essential to plan, build and strengthen the Intra-State transmission and sub-transmission systems so as to facilitate meeting of the consumer demand. This demand planning is must for long-term/mid-term perspective. Short-term access needs to be discouraged,” the statement said.
The Centre has announced financial support for restructuring of the state distribution companies. However, it is subject to certain conditions being fulfilled by these entities. (KNN/PC)
