Prices of foodgrain and sugar remain steady at wholesale markets

New Delhi, Jan 24 (KNN)   The prices of rice, wheat and sugar during the period January-16 to 23 remained steady in the wholesale markets across the country, according to a report from the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution.
 
The Price Monitoring Cell of the Ministry monitors prices of twenty two essential commodities regularly at 55 wholesale centres.

“During the period, prices of rice remained steady at all wholesale centres and decreased at one centre (Aizwal). Prices of wheat also were steady at all wholesale centres except one centre at Ludhiana. While sugar prices decreased at eight centres and remain steady at rest of the reporting centres,” said an official notification.

Prices of twenty two essential commodities are regularly monitored by Department of Consumer Affairs for taking suitable action to keep the prices under check.
 
These commodities include Rice, Wheat, Atta, Gram Dal, Tur (Arhar ) Dal, Urad Dal , Moong Dal, Masur Dal, Sugar, Gur, Groundnut Oil, Mustard Oil, Vanaspati, Sunflower Oil, Soya Oil, Palm Oil, Tea, Milk, Potato, Onion and Salt.
 
Price data are collected on daily basis from the State Civil Supplies Departments of the respective State Governments.   (KNN/ES)
